In this video, I’m going to cover how to add a download to your WooCommerce product so that when your clients purchase your download, they’re able to download it immediately from their order details. The first thing that you want to do is log into the backend of your website, which I’ve done here already on a website. You’re going to come to the media section and click on, add new. There are multiple ways to accomplish the same thing, but for the sake of this video, I’m going to cover this method because it’s the cleanest. It’s going to bring you to this upload new media page, where you can either drop files to upload, or you can select them. The select option is going to open up a window where you can search your website, find the file that you need, and select it. I’m going to use the drop files method because I know exactly where my file is, and I’m going to drop it in the box here. You can see that it is uploading, and we just need to wait for it to complete.

Once it’s completely loaded, it’s going to show up in your standard media library with all of your other types of media files, images, um, occasionally a video or audio, although I do recommend other storage space for both of those is they can significantly slow down your site and you definitely don’t want to be storing a lot of those types of files on here. PDFs are another common one. We’re all loaded up here and we’re going to click on the edit button so that we can get to the details of this file. This is the location of the file on your website.

You’re going to go ahead and copy the URL to the clipboard. And then we’re going to go ahead and update this. Then we’re going to go down to WooCommerce and then to all products. We’re going to find the product that we need and go into edit. Then we’re going to scroll down and you want to make sure that you have created this product as a downloadable file. Then you’ll see here where it says download files. You’re going to click and we’re going to start here so that I don’t lose the link. I’m going to copy and paste the information in there. You can also do a search, but I find this to be a little bit quicker. And then we are going to copy this.

That’s it! So once you have that all set up, when they place their order it’s going to include a link to this item here where they can download right away. It’s a nice way to automate the process.
