How To Set Up A New User On Your WordPress Website
The video below will show you how to add a new user to your WordPress website. I’m also including explanations of the built-in user roles included with WordPress. You may see other roles in your website such as customer, student, member, etc. These get added when various functions are added to your website and will vary from site to site based on the overall set up. Be extremely mindful of giving anyone full Administrator rights unless they need them. This gives someone full control over the contents and set up of your site. Only provide the level of access they actually need.
- Administrator (slug: ‘administrator’) – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
- Editor (slug: ‘editor’) – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
- Author (slug: ‘author’) – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
- Contributor (slug: ‘contributor’) – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
- Subscriber (slug: ‘subscriber’) – somebody who can only manage their profile.
