Measure What Matters: The Importance of Tracking Your Local SEO Performance

Tracking successful SEO

Monitoring and tracking your local SEO performance is an important aspect of improving your local search engine optimization efforts. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Allows you to track progress: By monitoring and tracking your local SEO performance, you can see how your efforts are impacting your search engine rankings and traffic over time. This can help you to identify what strategies are working and make adjustments where necessary.
  2. Provides insights into customer behavior: By tracking metrics like website traffic and click-through rates, you can gain insights into how customers are interacting with your website and online listings. This information can help you to make more informed decisions about your local SEO strategy and improve the user experience for potential customers.
  3. Helps you stay ahead of the competition: By monitoring your local SEO performance, you can stay up-to-date with changes in search engine algorithms and adjust your strategy accordingly. This can help you to stay ahead of your competition and maintain your position in local search results.
  4. Facilitates data-driven decision-making: By tracking your local SEO performance, you can make more data-driven decisions about your marketing strategy. This can help you to allocate resources more effectively and optimize your local SEO efforts for maximum impact.

To monitor and track your local SEO performance, you can use a variety of tools and metrics, including website analytics, Google My Business Insights, local search ranking reports, and more. By regularly reviewing these metrics, you can gain a better understanding of how your local SEO efforts are impacting your business and make informed decisions about your marketing strategy.

Overall, monitoring and tracking your local SEO performance is an important aspect of improving your local search engine optimization efforts. By using data to inform your strategy, you can optimize your local SEO efforts for maximum impact and attract more potential customers to your business.

BUT…and it’s a big one! If you don’t plan on doing anything with those stats, don’t bother going through them. You can set up the tracking and just ignore it until one day you decide you are ready to create an action plan and do something with that information. I know some may say you NEED to be doing this and there are reasons like I shared above as to why it’s a good idea BUT we also have to measure our resources (time, money, etc.) and decide where to focus. This may not fit for you right now and that’s okay. Focus on what does while understanding if you aren’t getting the results you desire, this may be an area you want to look at more deeply.
